Adi Hütter: “We'll work hard this week to bounce back”

Adi Hütter: “We'll work hard this week to bounce back”
Obviously disappointed by a frustrating result against Nice and a goal conceded in added time, the Monegasque manager spoke afterwards at a press conference.

The outcomes have been decidedly unfavorable lately. Pegged back at the last second by Lorient last weekend, AS Monaco fell in added time to Nice (0-1). After this cruel end to the match, Adi Hütter spoke with the media, obviously frustrated by the result. Extraits.

Obviously we are frustrated because I think we deserved a draw since we had two penalties. We cannot concede this sort of goal in the last minutes by leaving so much space. We have only one point from two games, it's not enough. Everyone thinks we are a good team but we still need to improve.
Adi HütterManager, AS Monaco

Good evening Coach. We imagine that this outcome gives you a lot of frustration.

Yes, obviously we are frustrated because I think we deserved a draw since we had two penalties. We cannot concede this sort of goal in the last minutes by leaving so much space. We have only one point from two games, it’s not enough. Everyone thinks we are a good team but we still need to improve.

What is your team still missing?

A match does not only last 90 minutes but longer with added time. Last weekend, we left the last possession to Lorient by losing the ball. Today, a point there for the taking again. This is why there is frustration for us but also for our supporters. Now we have to focus on Marseille who are coming on Saturday and we will have to work hard this week to bounce back.

Why did you decide to start Folarin Balogun ?

It’s simply a coach’s decision and I don’t necessarily want to talk about that every time. We have to know how to alternate because we have two very high level attackers. This is not a problem for me but there are indeed solutions. Today he was unlucky and he wanted to score this second penalty. It’s football. We will be there to help him bounce back because he is still a young attacker. But we win and we lose together.

What changed between the two halves?

At the start of the match, it’s true that we struggled a lot and I would like to congratulate the work of Francesco Fariori. We couldn’t get out of our half because of their pressing and we made too many mistakes to be able to play with verticality. We then finished better and I told my players that I wanted to see them play with more energy and power in their duels. In the end, we are very disappointed to lose this match.
