In 2017, Maghnes arrived at AS Monaco from Torcy at the age of 15. Slender yet highly talented, he gradually earned his stripes within the Monegasque youth setup, progressing from the U17s to the reserve team. In 2018, during a Coupe de la Ligue fixture, the broadcast cameras picked out a young, curly-haired, blue-eyed ball boy on the touchline at the Stade Louis-II. However, the wider public truly discovered him on an October evening in 2021, when he made his professional debut against Olympique Lyonnais.

He signed his first professional contract in February 2022 before making his European debut in Hungary against Ferencváros FC a few months later (1-1, Europa League). Maghnes gradually integrated into the squad rotation thanks to his precise passing and forward-thinking gameplay. He scored his first goal in the Diagonale jersey in January 2023, in a Coupe de France tie against Rodez AF. The French Under-21 international reached a new milestone during the 2023-2024 season. In 31 appearances across all competitions, under the management of Adi Hütter, he scored eight goals—including three against Olympique de Marseille—and provided four assists, playing a vital role in the Club's second-place finish in Ligue 1 and its return to the Champions League. For his debut in Europe's premier club competition, he scored Monaco's first goal of the campaign against Lamine Yamal's FC Barcelona, in a 2-1 victory secured at the Stade Louis-II in front of Michael Jordan. He subsequently added another goal and two assists, contributing to the Rouge & Blanc's impressive European run.
A wondergoal and a season of confirmation ✂️
Maghnes's 2024-2025 season confirmed all of his potential at the highest level. Making 43 appearances, with seven goals and twelve assists, he stood out with a finish as decisive as it was acrobatic against Stade Rennais in a 3-2 win at the Stade Louis-II. He thereby contributed to a second consecutive Ligue 1 podium finish and another Champions League qualification. Last season, he again played 43 matches, scoring seven goals and delivering eleven assists. He remained highly instrumental in the strong collective performances of the Rouge & Blanc up to the Champions League play-offs, where AS Monaco narrowly fell to the title holders and eventual winners of the competition.
20th Academy graduate to play for Les Bleus 🇨🇵
His progression and performances in the Diagonale jersey opened the doors to the French national team. A silver medalist with Thierry Henry's France U23s at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, he received his first call-up to the senior team a year later, becoming the 20th player developed at the Academy to wear the famous tricolor jersey. Since then, he has earned ten caps, registering one goal, two assists, and participating in the last World Cup with Les Bleus.
