It's a story that has continued for decades and it is not about to end since Thursday's announcement by Didier Deschamps of the French squad for the next three qualifying matches for the 2022 World Cup, against Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ukraine and Finland. Among the 23 players selected by the coach of the Blues is once more a player from Monaco: Aurélien Tchouameni, who will undoubtedly win his first cap on this occasion.
In Niko Kovac's current squad, "Tchouam" will be the fourth French international, along with world champion Djibril Sidibé, Wissam Ben Yedder and Ruben Aguilar. TheRouge et Blancnumber 8  is now the 69th player playing AS Monaco to be called up for the France team. Only Olympique de Marseille have more, with 81.

An "official supplier" of internationals for France, who have very often been trained at the club, AS Monaco has counted among its ranks legends such as Manuel Amoros, a French international 61 times during his time on the Rock and European champion in 1984, along with Bruno Bellone (31), Yvon Le Roux (10), Bernard Genghini (9) and Daniel Bravo (5).


Closer to home, when World Champions France also had a touch ofRouge et Blancwith Fabien Barthez (37), Thierry Henry (11) and David Trezeguet (21) in 1998, and Djibril Sidibé (18) and Thomas Lemar (13) in 2018. In total, AS Monaco players have accumulated 553 caps for France team during their time at the club -- only OM, PSG and Lyon did better.
