A heavyweight clash won and a fourth consecutive victory this season. Facing Olympique de Marseille in the headline fixture of Matchday 2 of Ligue 1 McDonald’s, AS Monaco lived up to expectations by securing a hard-fought victory at the foot of the Rock. A highly significant result already, achieved in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II and President Dmitry Rybolovlev at Stade Louis-II.

Brunner on Fire, Act II 🌟
After the restart, Gomes (48’) and Weah with a cross-shot (53’) sparked Marseille’s hopes, but Monaco proved sharper in transition. Following an incredible solo run capped by two dazzling feints, Paris Brunner finally secured his brace (2-0, 53’)! A stunning effort from the No. 29, who outwitted the Marseille defense to notch his fourth goal of the season in as many appearances, assisted initially by Eric Dier.

Bruno Genesio’s men struggled to respond, while Monaco continued to press. On a Mamadou Coulibaly cross, Stanis Idumbo produced a superb chest control and strike that De Lange tipped away for a corner (72’). Marseille came close to breaking through, but Emerson’s low effort (78’) and Gouiri’s powerful attempt (80’) were both denied.
