Having scored his very first goal in the iconic Diagonale jersey, Flávio Nazinho spoke to the media to break down this thrilling comeback. Excerpts 🎙️

Good evening Flávio. AS Monaco made a massive statement tonight...

"Yes, it was a perfect night for us! We are coming away with the win, and I think that's the most important thing. We kept the right mentality throughout the game, and in the end, we got the victory. It's crucial to maintain this mindset and take it game by game. Today, we came out on top in a tough battle, in a stadium that everyone knows well, but now we are going to rest up for the next match, where the goal will be exactly the same: to win."

What was the key to beating PSG tonight?

"Playing as a team! When you operate as a unit, you can achieve anything you set your mind to. We played as a team tonight, but not just in this match—it’s been the case in every game we've played so far this season."

Can you talk us through your individual performance tonight?

"I made a mistake on the PSG goal. I admitted it to my teammates, as I didn't see the ball when the pass was played. I was late to react, and I hold my hands up for that, but I think I managed to make amends with my goal later on. To be completely honest, my main priority wasn't necessarily to score or get an assist just to make up for the error. After it happened, I mainly just tried to clear my head, stay positive, and transmit good energy to my teammates. You can still have a great game without getting on the scoresheet! The goal is important and I'm very grateful for it, but it’s not the be-all and end-all."

You didn't panic after conceding the first goal. How do you explain this mental strength?

"It's a new season with new players, so it’s a fresh start. We have a very clear objective and mindset: if the opposition scores, we don't panic! A match lasts 90 minutes, so you can never give up. You have to fight right until the final whistle, regardless of whether it ends in a win, a draw, or a defeat."

How did you manage to hold on at the end of the game when PSG were pushing so hard?

"We dug deep and defended as a team! At the end, everyone saw that unbelievable save from Lukáš (Hradecký)... That's football! Luck was on our side today, as they easily could have equalized from that shot. Ultimately, it’s a fantastic night for us."
