He just can't stop scoring! After netting his 7th goal of the 2026-2027 campaign away to CSKA Sofia in AS Monaco's Conference League opener last Thursday (1-2), Paris Brunner missed Sunday's Ligue 1 trip to Lorient through suspension (a 1-0 defeat). It was therefore a determined 20-year-old striker who faced the media ahead of Matchday 2 of the Conference League against Freiburg at the Stade Louis-II (kick-off at 21:00). Excerpts 🎙️
His progress this season 📈
My teammates help me a lot! Players like Eric Dier and Denis Zakaria give me advice every day in training. The AS Monaco fans also give me a lot of strength, just like my parents, whom I speak with regularly. Did my pre-season goals give me confidence? Of course! They gave me a lot of confidence going into the competitive matches that followed. But as I said, I've worked hard on myself. Last year I didn't play much, so I had plenty of time to develop mentally and improve individually on the pitch. I try to draw on that every day and use it as motivation to perform as well as I possibly can.
On the competition in attack ⚽️
It's true that we have a lot of strikers, so naturally, there is competition. But it's motivating for all of us, and we give our all in every training session and every match. Have I set myself new goals? I'm a center-forward, so I just want to score goals and help my team!
For us—and I think the coach will agree with me—the most important thing is to win game after game and, of course, to put on a good display. It's true that we've built up confidence since the start of the season, and our ambition is to keep going like this!

On AS Monaco's status in the Conference League 🇪🇺

His integration into the Germany U21 squad 🇩🇪
I immediately clicked with all the players! Of course, I get along really well with all my teammates here too, but in any case, I always try to bring good energy and foster a positive dynamic within the team, both on and off the pitch—and for me, that's all that matters.
His Ligue 1 suspension 🟥
I've learned from that situation, and in the future, I'll control my emotions better. I talked about it with my family, and now it's in the past. I prefer not to think about it anymore; I just want to keep playing football.
