The unbeaten run continues. Despite conceding shortly after the restart following a stroke of bad luck, the AS Monaco players found the resources to equalise at the start of the final quarter of the match through the ever-reliable Paris Brunner at Strasbourg (1-1). Another goal that earns les Rouge et Blanc a valuable point and sees them reclaim top spot. Match report ✍️

In a sold-out Meinau stadium packed with nearly 400 Monaco supporters, including Joffrey, our Partout Toujours fan, the match got off to a lively start. Found by Paris Brunner, Anis Soubeir fired wide (6'), while Sébastian Nanasi’s downward header lacked power at the other end (12'). Moments later, Vanderson’s cross-shot was turned behind for a corner by Filip Jörgensen (16').

A lively end to the first half 🥵

Les Rouge et Blanc were on top but lost the young right winger, who came through the Diagonale academy, to injury, with Matthis Abline coming on in his place (22'). The game then lost some of its intensity, with Strasbourg threatening through Gessime Yassine, whose effort went narrowly wide (34'). AS Monaco responded through August’s MVP, who headed over (43'), before Denis Zakaria saw his effort take a bounce before being gathered by the opposition goalkeeper (45'). The half ended with plenty of action, as Oso’s powerful effort flew wide for the hosts (45+1').

Two strokes of bad luck for Monaco 🎲

After the restart, Monaco faced a pressing Strasbourg side and were unfortunate to fall behind when Sadibou Sané inadvertently headed past his own goalkeeper (1-0, 51'). A cruel turn of events did not stop them from pushing forward, but once again luck deserted Paris Brunner as his header was kept out by Jörgensen via the post (54'). The players from the Rock continued to push for an equaliser, although they had to remain wary of Yassine’s effort, which was saved by Lukáš Hrádecký (65').

Another Golazo from Brunner 🧨

AS Monaco continued to dominate possession and were rewarded by another moment of brilliance from Paris “Scorer” Brunner, who found the top corner with a strike from 25 metres (1-1, 73')! Another superb finish from the German striker, who has now scored three times in Ligue 1 this season. On fire, he almost completed his brace, but his slightly bobbling effort was gathered (77'). Les Rouge et Blanc finished strongly and Denis Zakaria thought he had won it, only to be flagged narrowly offside (87').

A valuable point for the road ahead 🪙

Moments later, Matthis Abline was brought down in the box by Mitchell, but VAR did not intervene (89'). As the minutes ticked away, les Rouge et Blanc pushed for a winner, but the captain’s volley unfortunately sailed over (95'). That was the final chance of the game, and AS Monaco nevertheless secured a valuable draw at the Meinau (1-1) to reclaim top spot. Next up is the visit of Lens next Friday (8:45pm) as they look to extend their unbeaten run.
