Like his teammates, Vanderson has made an impressive start to the season. He played a decisive role in the victory over Lens (2-1) before returning to the Brazil squad during the international break, even scoring his first goal for his country against Australia. Full of confidence and determination, the right-back therefore faced the media on the eve of AS Monaco’s first Conference League match, away to CSKA Sofia this Thursday (6:45 p.m.). Here are the highlights.

On CSKA Sofia 🇧🇬

They are a very good team and the most decorated club in the Bulgarian league, so we will take this match very seriously. It is never easy to get a competition underway, especially away from home, so we will do everything we can to leave here with all three points.

It is a very good competition featuring some big teams, so it certainly will not be easy. We will take each match as it comes. When you enter a competition, it is to try to go all the way, but for now we need to stay focused on this first match.

The objective in this competition 🏆

We need to approach this Conference League campaign with the mindset of going as far as possible, but we are only at the beginning, so we have to take it one step at a time. It is a very good competition featuring some big teams, so it certainly will not be easy. We will take each match as it comes. Do I dream of winning it? When you enter a competition, it is to try to go all the way, but for now we need to stay focused on this first match.

His start to the season and return to the Brazil squad 🇧🇷

It hasn’t always been easy for me this year. Five months ago, I went through a difficult period with a serious injury. Since then, I’ve worked hard to get back to full fitness, so I’m happy to be playing again, getting minutes on the pitch and being called up by Brazil once more. It will be a long season, and I hope it will be a good one. We want to keep going like this and improve on the things we didn’t do well last season.
