Denis Zakaria: “Very happy to have scored in front of our fans”
Scorer for the first time with AS Monaco, the Monegasque midfielder stopped in the mixed zone to talk about this moment, as well as his team's victory against Stade Brestois (2-0).

He became the eleventh Monegasque scorer this season! Scorer of the opening goal with a header from a very well-taken corner by Aleksandr Golovin, Denis Zakaria scored for the first time in Rouge et Blanc, in his ninth match. The Monegasque midfielder spoke in the mixed zone to discuss, among other things, this very special moment.  🎙

On a numerical level, that’s definitely true. I think we will have to watch the match back and analyze it. We did not deliver our best performance today. There are days like that when you have to take three points in tough matches. There are no easy matches in Ligue 1, Brest gave us a lot of problems. The important thing was the victory, and that was done.
Denis Zakaria on the quality of the winAS Monaco midfielder

Hello Denis. The team won with a clean sheet and you scored. Is this the perfect evening?

On a numerical level, that’s definitely true. I think we will have to watch the match back and analyze it. We did not deliver our best performance today. There are days like that when you have to take three points in tough matches. There are no easy matches in Ligue 1, Brest gave us a lot of problems. The important thing was the victory, and that was done.

Why didn’t you manage to develop your style of play in the second half?

It’s hard to say. As I said, Brest are a great team which gave us problems. We will have to analyze the match and look at what was not done well and do it better in the next matches.

Is it easy to take a corner by Golovin for your first goal with AS Monaco?

When they’re delivered like that, honestly yes (laughs). For a player, scoring is always something incredible. I am very happy to have done this in front of our fans and in our stadium. But the important thing was really the three points and that’s what I’m happiest with.

Tell us about the physical performance of the team which was very good.

I think our state of mind was present. We are a great team so a lot is expected of us. If it was not our best match, it is be up to us to work this week to play better next weekend against Le Havre.

He's a fantastic player.  I think everyone sees how important he is to us. He is one of those players who is capable of making the difference. There are many on this team, I could name many. Maghnes also had a great match, we have very, very good players up front. I know this and am certain that they will help us all season.
Denis Zakaria on Golo'AS Monaco midfielder

What can you tell us about Golo’ who seems to score in almost every match now?

He’s a fantastic player.  I think everyone sees how important he is to us. He is one of those players who is capable of making the difference. There are many on this team, I could name many. Maghnes also had a great match, we have very, very good players up front. I know this and am certain that they will help us all season.

There were a lot of children in the stadium today, did you feel their support?

Very clearly. We heard them throughout the match, they helped us a lot, pushed us on. It is also thanks to them that we won today. We are very happy that they came and we hope that they will come more often from now on.

Rise. Risk. Repeat.
