It's back-to-back MVPs for Takumi Minamino after the draw in Nantes!
Already named as the best Monegasque player during the win over Racing Club de Strasbourg at the Stade Louis-II, the Japanese playmaker was once again rewarded by the Rouge et Blanc fans on the AS Monaco App, after his performance against Nantes ( 3-3).

He is quite simply the most decisive player in Ligue 1 after three rounds! With now three goals and two assists to his name, Takumi Minamino confirms that he is a man with a very good start to the Monegasque season. Named MVP against Strasbourg in the Rouge et Blanc‘s first win at the Stade Louis-II (a 3-0 victory), thanks to a double and a fine assist for Wissam Ben Yedder, the Japanese international did the same against Nantes.

A copy-paste of his goal against Strasbourg

In a match where Adi Hütter’s men had started poorly, being behind 2-0 from the 15th minute of play, the Monegasque number 18 did not give up. On the contrary, it is he who would revive hope for AS Monaco shortly before the half hour mark, on a copy-paste of his second goal against the Alsatians a week earlier. On a ball recovered by Caio Henrique in the hosts’ penalty area, the Brazilian delivered a perfeect ball for a header by Taki ‘, clinical from six meters (2-1, 27’)!

Personally, I don't want to set myself a number of goals or assists as a target. Above all, I want to play as much as I can and be decisive as much as possible. I feel really good, and it is largely thanks to the pre-season and the fact that I am in very good physical shape that I am in full possession of my abilities.

Taki’ draws level with a certain… Radamel Falcao !

Involved in five goals after three days in Ligue 1 (3 goals, 2 assists), he is the first Monegasque player to achieve such a performance in the top flight since Opta analyzed him in 2006-2007 (Falcao also had 5 in 2017-2018). But beyond another goal, the Japanese international shone in the opposing half overall, with three shots attempted, six touches in the opposing area and eight passes in the final third against FC Nantes, including two passes before a shot.

Another place in the L’Équipe team of the week

With six duels won, three tackles attempted (all successful) and eight balls recovered, the man in form in the Monegasque side also contributed defensively, playing an almost perfect match. It is therefore not surprising to see him again named MVP of the match on the AS Monaco App with 78% of the votes from you, the Rouge et Blanc fans. He also again takes his place in l’Équipe‘s Ligue 1 Team of the Matchday.

Taki' had a very good pre-season, he worked a lot and notably scored against Real Betis and Bayern Munich. His physical condition is getting better every day and he has been decisive at the start of the league season with goals and assists. He has regained his confidence and helps us a lot with his style of play and his movement.

(Very) good marks to start

We can also note that he is to date the highest rated player in the league on average over the first three games (7.33). He is joined by coach Adi Hütter who shares the lead in the coaching rankings with Luis Enrique and Will Still (6.33). As a team, AS Monaco also remains at the top of the team rankings (5.70) — a good omen for the future. Daghe Taki! 👏
