Drawn to scoring goals from a very young age, Matthis Abline began playing football with FC2L Laurentais Landemont before joining USJA Carquefou in 2014 and then the Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire Elite Academy (Pôle Espoirs) for two years.

Made in Stade Rennais

In 2018, the young forward joined the Stade Rennais FC Academy, where he notably competed in the UEFA Youth League. Gradually integrated into the first-team squad, Matthis Abline made his Ligue 1 debut on April 25, 2021, against Dijon FCO. Having signed his first professional contract during the summer break, he scored his first goal for Rennes’ senior team during the UEFA Europa Conference League play-offs against Rosenborg FK in August 2021.

Three loans to grow 💪

Between January 2022 and January 2023, Matthis enjoyed successive loan spells with Le Havre AC (Ligue 2) and AJ Auxerre (Ligue 1) in order to gain valuable playing time. He achieved that objective by making 38 appearances and contributing to 14 goals (9 goals and 5 assists).

From August 2023 onwards, it was at FC Nantes, first on the left wing and then as a centre-forward, that the Angers-born forward (Maine-et-Loire) showcased his pace, intelligent movement and finishing ability. Initially joining on loan for the 2023-24 season, he marked his first start for the “Canaris” with a goal before earning a permanent transfer in the summer of 2024 thanks to a string of convincing performances.

During the 2024-25 campaign, he took another step forward, finishing as FC Nantes’ top scorer with 11 goals and 2 assists. His impressive form earned him a place in France’s squad for the 2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, where he reached the semi-finals alongside Christian Mawissa.

Following another productive season in the French top flight in 2025-26 (8 goals and 7 assists in 35 appearances), the 1.82m striker joins AS Monaco to put his qualities at the service of the Rouge & Blanc.

Daghe Matthis! 🇲🇨
