A revamped AS Monaco are dominated by Cercle Brugge
For their second match of the preseason, our Rouge et Blanc lost 3-0 to Cercle Brugge. They will now head to Birmingham for a one-week training camp and will play two friendly matches against Real Betis and Leeds.

The presason continued this Saturday on the pitch of Cercle Brugge and AS Monaco unfortunately lost 3-0. In this second meeting of the preseason, Adi Hütter once again played  a changed XI with several players from the Academy: Yllan Okou, Félix Lemarechal, Mamadou Coulibaly and Eliesse Ben Seghir. Back in training this week, Axel Disasi was also a starter.

Cercle dominate before coming good

The start of the game was  to the advantage of Cercle with attempts by Kevin Denkey and Olivier Deman, both kept out by Radoslaw Majecki. The Monegasque reaction came a few minutes later a Takumi Minamino forced Warleson into a save.

Dominant, the Belgians were finally rewarded for their efforts by Thibo Somers, who scored with a beautiful curling strike (29′). The Rouge et Blanc tried to react before the break but the opposing goalkeeper remained vigilant to stop a shot from Félix Lemarechal.

Many changes at the interval

Just as he had against Union Saint-Gilloise in the pevious match, the Austrian manager took the opportunity to rotate his squad with eight changes. Somewhat unsettled, the players of AS Monaco were surprised as Somers notched a double (51′). Just aftewards, Myron Boadu, who had come on at halftime, lost out against the opposing goalkeeper, before Yann Gboho beat  Yann Lienard just after the hour (62′).

Heading to Birmingham on Monday

After the third goal, Adi Hütter brought on Saïmon Bouabré for his professional debut. But there was not much further to report as the Club conceded its first defeat of preseason (0-3). Now, after a brief return to the Principality, everyone will head to Birmingham on Monday to take part in a one-week training camp where two new matches are planned against Real Betis (Wednesday, 8 p.m.) and Leeds (Saturday, 5:00 PM).
