Breel Embolo is called up by Switzerland for the World Cup!
The Monegasque striker has been selected by Murat Yakin to play in the second World Cup of his career with the Nati.

A second Monegasque – at least – will be playing in Qatar! After Takumi Minamino with Japan, we now know that Breel Embolo will play in the World Cup with Switzerland for the second time in his career after 2018 (four games, including an assist). The announcement was indeed made official on Wednesday by coach Murat Yakin, who called up a list of 26 players.

An even group with Brazil

Placed in group G, the Nati will be dealing with a rather balanced group on paper with Brazil at the top of the bill, along with Serbia and Cameroon. It’s a group stage which is also reminiscent of four years when they were also drawn with the Seleçao and the White Eagles. Then, they managed to qualify by finishing second, before falling in the round of 16 to Sweden.

Embolo decisive during the last set of matches

To try to reach the quarterfinals for the first time in their history, they will then be able to rely on the international form of Breel Embolo (58 caps, 11 goals). In form with AS Monaco, he has already scored eight goals this season, the last of which came Sunday during the win in Toulouse (2-0).

He was also decisive in the last set of matches with Switzerland last September, scoring twice against Spain and the Czech Republic, and allowing his team to avoid relegation to League B. Congratulations and good luck Breel!
