He can play on the left, on the right, or through the middle. Having been deployed as a wing-back for the past few weeks, Christian Mawissa is gradually regaining his form with the Rouge et Blanc after being sidelined for a long period at the start of the season. It was to discuss his return to fitness and the importance of this crucial match against his former team, Toulouse FC, this Saturday at the Stadium (9:05 pm), that he spoke to the media. 🎙️
His current form
It's true that I missed a lot of matches this season because of my injuries, but for the past few weeks I've been feeling good. I had a few relapses, but the staff and I dealt with them well, and today I'm much better. As for concentration, I work on it often, even every day. In training, but also outside of it, and it's true that it's very important in a match. Here at AS Monaco, we're lucky to have a mental coach, so I have sessions with him where we talk, exchange ideas, and it helps me a lot.
This match means a lot to me. It's going to be a very difficult game because I know how it goes when Toulouse FC hosts big teams. It won't be easy, but we'll have to give our all, start the match well, and above all, try to come away with the win.

Regarding his versatility
I'm lucky to have this great quality of being versatile! I don't mind playing on the wing in a back five or at the back in central defense. I can play on the right, on the left, and frankly, I'm at the coach's disposal. He can put me in any position; I'm always available and I give my best to try and win. Am I left-footed or right-footed? In any case, I take penalties with my right foot because during my career, I missed all the ones I took with my left foot, and when I switched, I started scoring them (smiles).
Toulouse: a special match
This match means a lot to me. It's going to be a very difficult game because I know how it goes when Toulouse FC hosts big teams. It won't be easy, but we'll have to give our all, start the match well, and above all, try to come away with the win.
Regarding the start of matches:
We can concede a goal right from the start, just as we can score one first. But it's true that we've conceded goals recently, even if we've sometimes managed to come back, like against Lens or Lyon for example, and I think that's the most important thing.
Regarding the table at the moment
We're trying not to look at it too much. There are several teams ahead of us, but we're taking it one game at a time. There are four left, and anything can still happen because the gap isn't huge, especially since there are still 12 points up for grabs. We'll see what happens at the end of the season. However, it's true that we're disappointed with our last two performances, so against Toulouse, we're eager to bounce back, to get revenge, and to bring home the three points. In any case, I have faith in us, and we're going to fight until the very end.
What's different is that last year he was hampered by a lot of injuries, but today he's full of confidence. He's scored a lot of goals this season thanks to that confidence, but also because the arrival of Kevin Mirallas has helped him a lot.

On Mika Biereth
He's training really, really well! You know, in football, we all have periods that aren't as good as others, and it's true that Mika hasn't played much this season, but he brings a lot to the team when he comes on the pitch. In any case, he has a great mentality.
On wanting to score his first goal in Rouge et Blanc:
Obviously, there isn't a player who doesn't want to score, and it's true that it's been a while since I last scored. In fact, in training, I sometimes work on being more dangerous in the box on set pieces.
Folarin Balogun's run of form
What's different is that last year he was hampered by numerous injuries, but today he's brimming with confidence. He's scored many goals this season thanks to that confidence, but also due to the arrival of Kevin Mirallas, who has been a great help to him.
Sébastien Pocognoli's Contributions
Firstly, he works hard for the team because he tries to bring a new mentality to training: a winning mentality. I think it's working and paying off. Secondly, on a personal level, he's a young coach who really wants to see me improve, and I'm receptive to his advice. He played in my position when he was a player and is more experienced, so when he gives me advice, I try to apply it on the pitch. I can tell you it helps me a lot!
