Corners, precocity, stats… Nine things to know about Kassoum Ouattara
Just arrived from Amiens, here is everything you need to know about our new 19-year-old left back, who has just signed a 5-year contract, until June 2028.

He comes straight from Ligue 2. Recruited from Amiens, where he has played since 2020, in a total of 22 matches, Kassoum Ouattara plays as a left back, but is also capable of playing higher up the pitch. Renowned for being powerful and blessed with good crossing skills, the 19-year-old is currently a French U-20 international. Find out now everything you need to know about him in nine facts, before he makes his big debut with the first team.

First player signed from Amiens 🆕

First of all, you should know that it is extremely rare to see a player make the direct journey between Amiens and AS Monaco. And for good reason, Kassoum is quite simply the first to achieve this! On the other hand, there are already 10 players who have worn the jersye of both teams. Among them, one finds Lacina Traoré, Adama Diakhaby, Aboubakar Kamara and Serge Gakpé.

Coming from the same club as an Elite Group player 🫂

Originally from the Paris region, he trained with two clubs, before joining Picardy-Ivry from 2011 to 2017 and then Montrouge between 2017 and 2020. In the Principality, he will thus find the winner of the Coupe Gambardella Cup and a member of the Elite Group, Lucas Michal, aged one year younger, and who wore the Ivryan colors from 2013 to 2015.

Among the youngest players in Ligue 2 last year 👶

After Montrouge, Ouattara headed to Amiens where he played for the U19s and then the reserves, before celebrating his first cap with the first team in August 2022. Coming on in the 79th minute against Bastia, as part of the fourth matchday in Ligue 2 he was only 17 years and 310 days old, making the left back the tenth-youngest player in the league to have made his debut during the season.

Above average statistics 📈

Having started ten times in 2023-2024, Kassoum has had an interesting start to the season, as certain statistics can attest. According to the Twitter account @datascout_, for example, he has won 68% of defensive duels, compared to around 60% on average for a Ligue 2 fullback. He also managed to make almost seven interceptions per match, as well as succeeding on 64% of his dribbles.

Two goals for Amiens… six days apart  ⚽

A fast full-back and not hesitant to throw himself forward to create danger offensively, Kassoum has managed to find the net twice since the start of his career. And for the record, these were registered very close together, only six days apart. First was one in the Coupe Gambardella on January 30, 2022 during a big victory by his teame against Quevilly-Rouen (3-0), then on February 5 in Hauts-de-France National 3 against Marcq-en-Baroeul (2-2).

He’s already played with players from the first team 🇫🇷

If he has already worked alongside Lucas Michal through his training, the young player was also able to play alongside several players from the first thanks to the French youth teams. He who has a total of six caps (2 in U18, 3 in U19 and 1 in U20) was in fact able to play with Eliesse Ben Seghir and Edan Diop during qualifying for the U-19 Euros last March, just as with Malamine Efekele during thr Elite Tour, as well as in a friendly in September with the U20s against Denmark..

He’s scored direct from a corner ⛳

Impressive on set pieces since the start of the season with three goals already, the Rouge et Blanc have perhaps found a new take, in the person of Kassoum Ouattara. Indeed, during a challenge carried out with his Amiens partner Henry Dupays, which consisted of putting in a direct corner using a old-school effect, he only needed three attempts to find the net.

An important name in the Principality 🏀

If you closely or remotely follow the sporting news from the Principality’s clubs, his last name must necessarily speak to you. Indeed, on the basketball court, one can find a certain Yakuba Ouattara, captain of the team and winner of the league last season. A true fan favorite, he has now been wearing their jersey for eight seasons, having arrived from Denain in… the second division. A nice coincidence and a bit of destiny?

Lots of potential on  EA Sports FC 🎮

This last paragraph is finally addressed to all video game aficionados, and more particularly those of EA Sports FC. Know that Kassoum has a bronze card, and is rated at 61 overall, with the characteristics of 68 for speed, as well as a 65 for physicality. Finally, note that he has a potential of 77 on the game. Interesting for you if you want to polish him and make him one of your major players in future seasons.
