Three Monégasques are in L’Équipe's Team of Matchday 31 and more!
After a very serious performance from start to finish against Lorient (3-1), Aleksandr Golovin and Youssouf Fofana were named to l'Équipe's team of the Matchday, while Axel Disasi took his place in the team of the best French players.

They played an (almost) perfect match! Dominant from start to finish as they recorded a great victory against Lorient this Sunday at the Stade Louis-II (3-1), the players of AS Monaco have been thus rewarded. The men of Philippe Clement, who are now just three points off second place in the Ligue 1 standings, thus find themselves in large numbers this Monday in l’Équipe‘s team of the round in Ligue 1 and the best French players from the weekend.

A masterclass from the Tsar

In the first of these, we found Aleksandr Golovin, who was (almost) decisive on the opening goal by Krépin Diatta (1-0, 14′), and who scored a quarter of an hour later (2-0, 28′). He was also involved in the third goal for the Rouge et Blanc, scored by Kevin Volland, as the Tsar delivered a massive performance with two key passes plus a goal, his seventh already in the league this season!

Football starts with winning duels! Everyone was up for it today, from the first seconds of the game. My players made good runs, good decisions and good passes, always being aggressive. We made our moves together, and everyone kept their focus the whole match.

Involved in three goals!

Also very useful for the team in his pressing with six balls recovered and a successful tackle, the number 17 of the Rouge et Blanc was thus accompanied in this team of the round by Youssouf Fofana, who was involved in the goal scored by the Russian winger, as it was he who recovered the ball before picking out the decisive passer, Wissam Ben Yedder.

Youssouf bosses the midfield

Imperial in the midfield alongside Mohamed Camara, the French international completed the match with eight balls won, six interceptions and two tackles, in addition to having attempted seven dribbles. Youss’ even had a fantastic run which earned him an ovation from the Stade Louis-II fans, who came out in large numbers thanks to a very successful “Tous au Stade” campaign.

Today, I think we have regained our aggressiveness, which is the hallmark of our team. This is what has been missing in recent weeks. Once again we got off to a good start and we were focused from start to finish. I think that's what made the difference in this game. Individually, we talked a lot this week because we were not happy with the result last week.

The French team of the weekend for Axel!

As well as our midfielders, Axel Disasi took his place in the French team of the weekend. Very solid in defence, as was the rest of the resolute Monegasque defence, the vice-captain of the Rouge et Blanc finished the meeting with nine ball recoveries, four clearances and 14 passes in the last third of the field.

Proof that he is also very valuable in getting forward. Axel appears in a five-star eleven, among others his teammates in the French national team, Kylian Mbappé, Antoine Griezmann and Benjamin Pavard. Daghe les gars! 🇲🇨
