The native of Tübingen, near Stuttgart, cut his teeth in Germany. Having trained with FC Schalke 04, whom he joined in 2012, he played over a hundred games for the youth teams and, as captain, won the German U19 championship in 2015. A versatile player capable of playing in all defensive positions, Thilo Kehrer has become an essential part of the Schalke team. Replaced in a three-man defence during the 2017-2018 season, he made a major contribution, alongside Breel Embolo, to the club's second-place finish in the Bundesliga this season. Thanks to his good performances across the Rhine, Thilo Kehrer attracted the attention of Paris Saint-Germain, who recruited him in 2018 under Thomas Tuchel. With Paris, the 1.86m defender discovered the Champions League. In all, he took part in around twenty European matches. With the capital club, Thilo Kehrer played 128 games and won the Ligue 1 championship three times (2019, 2020 and 2022), the French Cup twice (2020 and 2021), the League Cup once (2020) and the Champions Trophy in 2019. After four years with the Paris-based club, he joined West Ham and the Premier League in the summer of 2022. Thilo Kehrer played a part in the Hammers' historic season, winning the UEFA Europa League at the expense of Fiorentina. The defender played 27 matches for Germany and was included in the German squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. On loan to AS Monaco from the English club in the 2023-2024 winter mercato, the German played 18 games for the Red and Whites and decided to continue his adventure in the Principality until 2028. At the end of the 2024-2025 season, he made 40 appearances, scoring 5 goals and providing 1 assist.
