Debuts, staying unbeaten… What to retain from the training camp at St. George’s Park
Seven intense days at the British Clairefontaine. Like every season, the AS Monaco players completed their pre-season training camp in mid-July, and just like two years ago, it was at the home of the English national team, St. George’s Park, which they made a temporary home. It was an instructive stay, which ended this Saturday with a draw against Nottingham Forest (0-0), from which the following was learned.🏋️♂️ 🔙
A first camp for three academy players 🆕
If he had already celebrated his first minutes of play with the Rouge et Blanc at the end of the 2023-2024 season, Saïmon Bouabré (5 appearances) and Lucas Michal (14) had never, however, gone on a training camp with the first team. This is now a reality for the two members of the Elite Group, who were even accompanied by their friend from La Diagonale, Aladji Bamba, a real “rookie” in this preseason camp. That’s without, of course, forgetting Paris Brunner, another newcomer.
A quick integration for Eric Dier 🇬🇧
He too was celebrating his first campaign with the squad, and he too was entitled to a hazing, singing Bob Marley’s Three Little Birds in front of his new teammates. Having arrived in the Principality at the end of May, Eric Dier soon headed back to his homeland for the AS Monaco training camp. It was a week that saw him reveal himself in the role of being an experienced and multilingual “big brother”, a role which is already unanimously acclaimed.
An bravura performance againstCoventry 🎉
With his first appearance with the team in the second half against Coventry City, the England international (49 caps, 3 goals) thus participated in a convincing victory obtained against the Championship team (0-5). It was a win which Saïmon Bouabré took advantage of to score his first goal in Rouge et Blanc, before Maghnes Akliouche netted a hat trick.

A contract extension and a gift 🎁
With its partners trained at the foot of the Rock, it is nevertheless a good omen that Mika Biereth opened the scoring on Sir Bobby Charlton’s pitch at St. George’s Park. It marked a first goal for the Dane in pre-season, which preceded the announcement of his extension with the Club through 2030! Having set numerous records last season, including 13 goals in Ligue 1 McDonald’s, Mika has now settled in for the long term.
A new kit 👕
And as each day gave rise to a little surprise, AS Monaco presented in the wake of their new away kit “harmoniously blending Japanese heritage with Monegasque elegance.” It was a blue jersey designed by new kit provider Mizuno, which thus recalls the outfit worn by the Japanese national team, which can obviously to be found on the new online Club store.

A pro debut for Pape Cabral 👏
As soon as it was announced, it was worn! The day after its public reveal, the 2025-2026 away jersey was worn by the Rouge et Blanc against Nottingham Forest (0-0). And for their third preseason match, they saw the youngest of the squad make his debut. He arrived during the week as a replacement for Edan Diop who had left on loan to Cercle Bruges, and Pape Cabral indeed gave an encouraging start against the Reds, in a very impressive debut.
Building an unbeaten run 🚧
While the winner of the 2023 Gambardella Cup had a successful baptism by fire among the pros, the defensive performance of the Monegasques was also once again convincing. Authors of two clean sheets against the Green and Black then against Coventry, the men of Adi Hütter have indeed completed their third match in a row without conceding a single goal, to the great pleasure of the Austrian technician. 👌
