A solid win to build momentum during pre-season. Facing Spanish side Getafe for their fourth warm-up match, the AS Monaco players showed patience to secure a deserved 1-0 victory on their return to the Stade Louis-II. An important success achieved in the presence of President Dmitry Rybolovlev.
First appearance for Matthis Abline 🆕
For this clash against last season's 7th-placed La Liga side, Rouge et Blanc manager Filipe Luís opted for a 4-4-2 starting XI, featuring a centre-back pairing of Sané and Dier, with Golovin and Detourbet on the flanks. Of note was the return of Lamine Camara alongside Pape Cabral, who recently extended his contract until 2031, as well as the first appearance of Matthis Abline in his new colors.

The breakthrough finally came from another substitute, Paris Brunner, who converted a penalty won by Mamadou Coulibaly (1-0, 65')—already his fourth goal of pre-season! As the end of the match approached, chances were at a premium, and unfortunately, the Rouge et Blanc were reduced to ten men following the sending off of Christian Mawissa (78'). They even survived a minor scare from a deflected cross by Drammeh Jaiteh, which Philipp Köhn pushed behind for a corner (85').
That would be the final major opportunity of the match, which AS Monaco ultimately won in a well-deserved fashion after showing great patience. Focus now turns to the training camp in England and the high-profile friendly against Liverpool this Sunday afternoon at Anfield (15:30 French time).
