With an assist and a goal, Golo is (again) your MVP against Brest
After another top-flight performance this Sunday against Stade Brestois (a 2-0 win), with an assist and a goal, Aleksandr Golovin was named MVP by you, the Rouge et Blanc fans on the AS Monaco App .

He’s irresistible right now. Already voted MVP of a match five times this season with the Principality club, Golo’ delighted again this weekend at the Stade Louis-II. A starter alongside Maghnes Akliouche in support of the attack, the Rouge et Blanc’s Russian playmaker contributed in a big way to the success of AS Monaco against Stade Brestois (2-0).

Close to 30 assists in Ligue 1

Despite the Bretons being very impressive, he was first and foremost an essential point for the first Monegasque incursions into the opposing half. Until this 17th minute of play, where the maestro would deliver a real impressive pass on a corner for Denis Zakaria, to mark his first goal in La Diagonale (1-0). It was the second assist for Aleksandr Golovin this season, his 29th in Ligue 1 in his career.

A bit of teamwork

And it was an assist for the seventh different scorer out of the last goals, all the same (Volland, Ben Seghir, Ben Yedder, Embolo, Diop, Balogun and Zakaria). A fine pass, and a great goal to boot!

He's a fantastic player. I think everyone sees how important he is to us. He is one of those players who is capable of making the difference. There are many like him in the team, I could name many.
Denis ZakariaAbout Golo

Upon receipt of a magnificent collective play started by Folarin Balogun, in a one-two with Wissam Ben Yedder, the Monegasque number 17 took advantage of a good ball in behind from Youssouf Fofana to score. But he finished in true Golo’ style, with finesse, with a slick bit of control followed by a subtle curling shot into the bottom of the Brest goal (2-0, 69′).

Most impactful midfielder in the league

A masterpiece! And his fifth goal, already, in just 10 matches, which makes him the most decisive Monegasque in the top flight in 2023-2024 with seven goal involvements (5 goals, 2 assists), more than any other midfielder in France, per Opta. He was decisive again against Brest, his favorite opponent in Ligue 1 (3 goals, 3 assists). Aleksandr Golovin will therefore have been the sharpest offensive element, notably with seven passes completed in the Bretons’ final third.

I think it’s his fifth goal this season, and after a magnificent bit of play! Golo’ is exceptional, he can run for 90 minutes without stopping, he is really in great shape at the moment. We need him, he's a fantastic player and I hope he continues to be decisive.

A sixth MVP of the season!

It’s no surprise to see him win a 6th MVP title this season – he is the Monegasque who’s been honored the most – with no less than 81% of the votes on the AS Monaco App. He finished ahead of the other goalscorer of the day, Denis Zakaria (13%), with whom he showed up in the team of the round for the 11th matchday of Ligue 1. It was a double award therefore for Golo’, who was credited with an 8 in L’Équipe, for his high-level performance, also named to the WhoScored team of the week. Bravo Golo! 👏
