AFCON and The Asian Cup: Here's What's Ahead for our Internationals

AFCON and The Asian Cup: Here's What's Ahead for our Internationals
The Africa Cup of Nations is about to begin, and will kick off on January 13, just like the Asian Cup, which will begin the day before. Six Monegasques will be involved in the two competitions, here's what's on their agenda.

After an impressive qualification against RC Lens in the Coupe de France, AS Monaco will return to Ligue 1 action, with a visit from Reims this Saturday (kick-off 5 p.m.) for the return of the Monegasques to the Stade Louis-II. But at kick-off, Adi Hütter will have to cope without six of his players: Wilfried Singo, Mohamed Camara, Mohammed Salisu, Ismail Jakobs, Krépin Diatta and Takumi Minamino. And for good reason: they will all be involved in the Asian Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations, which will begin respectively on January 12 and 13.

Identical goals 🏆

The African continent will therefore be closely following the competition for a month, where the Côte d’Ivoire of Wilfried Singo, hosts of the tournament and favorite, will have to fight to win a title also coveted by Senegal and Ismael Jakobs and Krépin Diatta, who will be defending their title. We will also have to watch the Eagles of Mohamed Camara, and the Black Stars of Mohammed Salisu, who could be serious competitors.

The competition will also be in full swing in Asia, where Takumi Minamino’s Japan, recent winner of the Toyo Tires Cup, intend to win, after losing in the final during the last edition. Read on to see what’s ahead for our Monegasques in these two competitions. 📅
