With a goal and an assist, Takumi Minamino is MVP of the big match in Paris

Like the team, he had a combative match, but without being rewarded by the result. A starter for the big clash of the 13th round of Ligue 1 after being in action in the international breask with Japan, Takumi Minamino didn’t take long to shine in Paris. It was he who had the first attempt for the Monegasques side in the 7th minute, his first duel against Gianluigi Donnarumma before a breakthrough.

A model of opportunism

A quarter of an hour later, with PSG having just opened the scoring through Gonçalo Ramos (18′), Taki’ took of an error from the Italian goalkeeper to strike with a cool head. A chest control later, the Japanese playmaker perfectly equalised with a sharp left-footed shot (1-1, 22′)! AS Monaco quickly were level, and the Monegasque number 18 had scored his fourth goal of the season in Ligue 1, with a great moment of opportunism.

A double that could have changed everything

Luis Enrique’s men would go back in front just before half-time from the penalty spot (2-1, 39′), but the Rouge et Blanc did not give up. And besides, Taki’ was again the first to take the initiative after returning from the locker room, well found by his friend in midfield, Aleksandr Golovin. Unfortunately Donnarumma intervened (47′)! Involved in almost all of the Monegasque chances, he was finally rewarded a second time after making a recovery.

Honestly I didn't see a big difference between Paris and ourselves this evening, despite the fact that they were exceptional in their finishing. We had the opportunity to come back through Takumi Minamino at 2-1, but unfortunately it did not work out in our favor.
Adi HütterOn how the match unfolded

An assist for Balo’!

And he translated one of the nine recoveries made from the Parisians (including 4 in the final third) with an assist for Folarin Balogun, who converted from close range (4-2, 77′). This was also the fourth assist from the Japanese, now level with Caio Henrique. It was an action which would ultimately not prevent PSG from winning (5-2), but with his incessant activity in the build-up, pressing and then finishing (five shots attempted, 4 on target), Taki’ put on a great display!

In the Sofascore Team of the Week

It was enough to win the support of the Rouge et Blanc fans, present in large numbers once again at the Parc, and who elected him MVP of the match with 41% of the votes, just ahead of his Russian teammate in attacking midfield (27 %). It was the third title for him this season, the best Monegasque behind… Golo’ (6)! This was inaddition to appearing alongside Kylian Mbappé in the Team of the Week by the statistician Sofascore, with a rating of 8.2. Bravo to him! 👍

It's an incredible feeling to know the number of Monegasque supporters who come to the away end each time. We heard them and even at the end, they continued to encourage us. We are grateful for their support.
