Takumi Minamino goes for five and is your MVP against OL

Takumi Minamino goes for five and is your MVP against OL
The Japanese midfielder, who opened the scoring for the sixth time this season, was voted MVP against the Olympians by the Monaco fans on the AS Monaco App.

He led his side to a win over Olympique Lyonnais, the seventh of 2025 at home, which sealed direct qualification for AS Monaco to the Champions League. After a closely fought first half, Takumi Minamino helped the Rouge et Blanc open the scoring with a header just after the hour (61′).

A classic counterattack

Following a ball take off the feet of Lyon by Maghnes Akliouche in midfield, the counterattack began and our number 11 played in the Japanese midfielder on the left flak. Untouched by the defense of Duje Caleta-Car, he advanced into the area before letting fly with a left-footed shot that found the back of Lucas Perri’s net.

A sixth goal of the season

Having also scored against Marseille in another match which was important for qualification to the Champions League, Taki’  he did it again at the best of times, scoring for the sixth time this season in the league. It was a goal that was followed a few moments later by one from Denis Zakaria, to definitively secure a place on the podium, the 31st in the history of the Club – a record – and a return to the Champions League.

MVP + Team of the Round

The two players were therefore logically in the fight for the MVP title, but it was the number 18 who was elected with 80% of the votes for the fifth time this season. It was a logical award given that he also proved invaluable, shooting three times, including two on target, touching the ball eight times in the opponent’s box, suffering two fouls and winning four duels. But that’s not all, as he also featured in the Team of the Week alongside Lamine Camara and AS Monaco as a whole. Bravo Taki’!
