Caio Henrique in L’Équipe's team of the Round for Matchday 22

Caio Henrique in L’Équipe's team of the Round for Matchday 22
With an assist on Kevin Volland’s goal, subtly slipped over the defense, AS Monaco's Brazilian left back makes his appearance in L’Équipe's team of the round for Matchday 22 in Ligue 1 this Monday morning.

Like his team, untouchable so far in 2021, Caio Henrique must be on a cloud today. Already having set up a goal for Kevin Volland against Angers in a 3-0 win having delivered the cross for a header by Wissam Ben Yedder in Montpellier (in a 3-2 win), the Brazilian left back has done it again against Nantes. With AS Monaco already ahead 1-0 thanks to another headed goal by Guillermo Maripán just before half-time, the Brazilian U23 international (11 caps) turned distributor again.

Three assists in four games

Bursting forward towards Les Canaris‘ goal, shortly after the hour mark, the Brazilian picked out Kevin Volland with a ball over the top to beat the opposing defense, a delicious curling left footed pass. The German striker, clinical as usual, did not hesitate to score his 11th goal of the season, and his second on a pass from Caio Henrique. In setting up his German teammate, the left back recorded his third assist in four games, confirming that danger can comes from anywhere in this team.

In addition to delivering five crosses in the match, the 23-year-old Brazilian also worked well defensively, with five recoveries and two successful tackles. It is therefore natural that he makes another appearance in L’Équipe’s team of the round for Matchday 22 following this fifth straight win in Nantes (2-1). Bravo Caio!
